This award-winning art studio demonstrates how compact, non-residential buildings can still present significant structural complexity. Delivered on a constrained site with sensitive surrounding features, the project required careful engineering coordination to balance buildability, safety and environmental protection.

GC Robertson provided full structural engineering services, including foundation and superstructure design, temporary works design, and the development of measures to protect nearby tree roots throughout construction. Particular attention was given to sequencing and access constraints to support a safe and efficient build process.

The project was recognised as Best Non-Residential New Build at the LABC Building Excellence Awards 2025, reflecting the successful collaboration between the project team and the considered structural approach adopted from early design through to completion.
